Healthy Face: Stacy Bolle

Today’s Healthy Face is marathon runner, Stacy Bolle. You may see her out training in the city. Learn what motivates – and fuels - her here:

1. What’s your favorite motivational/self-help book?

Runners World Magazine. Each month, there are articles of someone who has come back from a tragic accident, like the loss of a limb or open heart surgery. These are truly the best motivation! If they can, then I can too! 2. What’s your favorite healthy meal?

My favorite healthy meal would have to be a salad made with spring mix, avocado, artichoke hearts, ham, turkey and lots of veggies! 3. Favorite workout?

Running and lifting weights! 4. How do you fit health and wellness into your busy lifestyle?

I make it a priority to cut time into my schedule to do at least 30 minutes of some exercise (each day). It’s most important to have a strong and healthy mind, body and soul. 5. Favorite motivational quote?

Philippians 4:13: I can do all things through Jesus Christ who strengthens me!” 6. How did your health journey start?

In 1996, I stopped smoking and took up walking and changing some of my eating habits. That turned into running which led to 5Ks, 10Ks, several half marathons and multiple marathons over time. I added weight training and swimming (which I am still not real good at lol) and in 2019 I did my first Century ride (100 miles) on my bike in Maryland. It was all about baby steps and discipline! I wanted and needed a lifestyle change! 7. What are some easy and tiny habits that you recommend people start with on their journey?

I strongly recommend taking baby steps. The journey is not an easy one, but is quite rewarding. If possible, having a friend to work out with and hold you accountable is a great way to stay in check. Join a fitness or running group. Take a class. Keep track of your workouts and don’t beat yourself up if you miss one or can’t complete it that day. Don’t compare yourself to others! Reward yourself at the end of the first week and the end of the first month. Set small goals and celebrate when you accomplish them. Make it a life change, not just a New Years’ Resolution! Blessings and joy on your journey!
